The Fellows and staff of King’s were delighted to welcome
over 100 King’s Members to the Engineers’ Event on Saturday 26th June. The
Occasion brought together students, Fellows and alumni from an array of
matriculation years, ranging from 1941 to 2009.
The event began early with tours up on the Chapel roof.
There were four tours which were attended well.
After lunch the academic seminars began. Professor John
Young (KC 1977) kicked off the afternoon with his session, "The Road to
Thermotopia”, immediately followed by Dr Tawfique Hasan (KC 2009) with his
session, "Nanotechnology – The future is small!”. After a brief tea and coffee
break the group resumed for two more sessions: Dr Stephanie Lacour (KC 2006),
Electric circuits with a stretch” and Dr Cesare Hall (KC 1992), "Future
aircraft engines for reduced emissions”.
Evensong was well attended by the group who then congregated in the Senior Combination Room and on the patio for pre-dinner drinks. Dinner
was a 3 course meal and provided everyone with the opportunity to continue
their conversations, catch up on any news and to reminisce on their time at
King’s.
We would like to thank the Acting Dean, Richard Lloyd Morgan
and Fellows Cam Middleton, Cesare Hall and Julie Bressor for leading the Chapel
roof groups; John Young, Tawfique Hasan, Stephanie Lacour and Cesare Hall for
their afternoon seminars, and of course to all of the King’s Engineers who
attended. Don’t forget to come back and see us again soon!
The full pictures from the event are now online on the King’s
Cambridge Facebook page. Due to technical difficulties, we have been unable to
upload them all on this page.
