The
staff of the Development Office were delighted to welcome matriculation year 1985 back to the
College on Saturday 5th June for their 25th matriculation anniversary.
The event
began after Evensong when a group of 18 guests plus staff assembled in the antechapel
before climbing the 101 steps up on to the top of the vaulting of the Chapel.
After some interesting facts by our tour guide, Lena,
we continued up to the Chapel roof itself.
The day
was muggy but the cool breeze on the roof was lovely. Thirty minutes and
numerous pieces of information later, it was all over and we were climbing back
down the turret with our torches in order to make it to the Provost’s Garden in
time for pre-dinner drinks. Little did we know that within 10 minutes of the
start of the outside drinks reception, the weather, which had been humid for
days, would break and we would be running for shelter in the Saltmarsh Suite!
Dinner
was a 3 course meal and provided everyone with the opportunity to continue
their conversations and to reminisce on their time at King's.
We would like to thank all of the 1985 members for coming, Lena
for taking us up onto the Chapel roof and everyone else who was involved in the
evenings’ activities. Don’t forget to come back and see us again soon!
