King’s is delighted to announce that Revd Dr Jeremy Morris has
been elected as the College's new Dean.
Dr Morris is currently Dean of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He is also Robert
Runcie Fellow at Trinity Hall, Affiliated Lecturer at the Faculty of Divinity,
Cambridge University, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
He studied Modern History at Balliol College, Oxford, and after a period in
management returned to academia to read Theology at Clare College, Cambridge. He
trained for the Anglican ministry at Westcott House and took his appointment at
Trinity Hall in 2001.
He has published widely on European church history, Anglican theology and
secularisation. He has balanced his academic interests with his commitments to
the Church, and is currently a member of the Faith and Order Advisory Group of
the Church of England and the Anglican-Old Catholic Co-ordinating Council.
The Provost of King's, Prof Ross Harrison, said: "I am very pleased that
Jeremy and his family are joining us and I am very grateful to Trinity Hall,
where I know he will be much missed, for allowing him to move from about the
smallest college chapel in Cambridge to the largest."
The new Dean was elected last night (Tuesday 9 March) at a meeting of the
College's Governing Body and will take up his appointment on 1 October 2010.
