Sir Salman Rushdie, KBE, Kingsman of 1965 and thirteenth on the The Times' 2008 list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945", is due to open his archive, "A World Mapped by Stories", to the public for the first time on Friday 26 February. It will run until 26 September.
The archive is kept in the Manuscript, Archives, and
Rare Book Library at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where Sir Salman is a Distinguished Writer-in-Residence and regularly lectures. Included in the exhibit are Rushdie's computer files, private journals, notebooks,
photographs and manuscripts.
The archive will not only provide further information about Sir Salman and his human rights effort, but also prove to be a milestone in the preservation of personal digital materials.
